You will join a supportive finance team where your expertise will be valued and your professional development encouraged.

This role offers not just a job, but a pathway to potential permanent employment and career growth within a respected company.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • End-to-End Payroll Processing: Manage the full payroll cycle for a multi-site workforce, including calculations for salaries, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP).
  • Pension Administration: Accurately handle auto-enrolment duties, assess worker categories, process contributions, and submit timely files to the pension provider.
  • Tax & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions (FPS, EPS), processing new starters and leavers, and managing tax code updates and P45/P60 issuance.
  • Query Resolution: Act as the first point of contact for all employee payroll enquiries, providing clear, helpful, and confidential responses in a timely manner.
  • Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare detailed payroll reports for management, perform monthly reconciliations of the payroll control accounts, and assist with year-end procedures.
  • Systems & Data Integrity: Maintain the highest standards of data accuracy within the payroll software (e.g., Sage, Xero, BrightPay, or similar), ensuring all employee records are current and secure.
  • Benefits Administration: Administer company benefits such as cycle-to-work schemes, private medical insurance, and season ticket loans through the payroll.

Essential Skills & Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this London W1 based role, you will need to demonstrate the following experience and attributes:

  • Proven Payroll Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of hands-on experience running start-to-finish payrolls in a UK-based environment. Experience with high-volume or multi-frequency payrolls is advantageous.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of mainstream payroll software. Familiarity with integrated HR/Payroll systems is highly desirable.
  • Legislative Knowledge: A solid, up-to-date understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax, National Insurance, and auto-enrolment pension regulations.
  • Numerical Accuracy & Detail-Oriented: An exceptional eye for detail and a commitment to 100% accuracy in all calculations and data entry.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll matters clearly and professionally to non-finance colleagues.
  • Discretion & Integrity: The highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee data.
  • Organisational Skills: The ability to prioritise a demanding workload, meet strict deadlines, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
