Key Responsibilities & Daily Duties

As a Courier Driver placed by Phone Direct in the Gatwick area, your core mission is to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of items. Your day will be dynamic and varied, requiring both independence and professionalism.

• Safe & Efficient Driving: Operating company or agency-provided vehicles (vans up to 3.5t) to collect and deliver parcels, documents, and goods across Gatwick RH6, Crawley, Horley, and surrounding postcodes.
• Customer Service & Handover: Professionally interacting with customers at collection and delivery points, obtaining signatures (POD), and handling any delivery enquiries or issues on the spot.
• Route Planning & Logistics: Using sat-nav and delivery apps effectively to plan optimal daily routes, manage multiple stops, and adhere to strict delivery time windows, especially for time-sensitive medical or retail goods.
• Vehicle & Inventory Care: Performing basic vehicle safety checks, ensuring the load is secured, and maintaining accurate records of deliveries and collections. Reporting any vehicle faults or incidents immediately.
• Administrative Accuracy: Completing all necessary paperwork and digital logs for each shift, including delivery manifests, mileage sheets, and any customer feedback reports.

What We're Looking For: Essential Requirements

To be successful in this Courier Driver role and to ensure we can place you quickly with our clients, you will need to meet the following criteria. We value reliability and a strong work ethic above all.

• Full UK Driving Licence: A clean, valid UK driving licence is essential. A maximum of 6 penalty points may be considered for minor offences. Drivers with Cat B (car) and Cat B1 (van up to 3.5t) are in high demand.
• Proven Experience: At least 6 months of recent professional driving or courier experience. This could be in multi-drop parcel delivery, taxi driving, or similar logistics roles.
• Right to Work: You must have the legal right to work in the UK. We will assist with necessary checks and documentation, a process we streamline for all roles from Assembly Line Worker positions to Painter And Decorator contracts.
• Professional Demeanour: Excellent customer service skills, punctuality, and a smart appearance. You represent both our agency and our client's brand.

• Physical Fitness: The role involves manual handling—lifting, carrying, and loading packages typically up to 25kg with provided equipment.
